GAINESVILLE, Fla. (3/12/99) – Atlantic.Net Internet Services is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to purchase the dial-up Internet subscribers of VolusiaNet, a division of Communications Engineering Technologies, Inc. (CET) of Edgewater. Most of the subscribers are in the vicinity of Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach.

Terms of the purchase are not being disclosed.

Effective immediately, former VolusiaNet customers will be able to take advantage of all of Atlantic.Net’s features, including Web browsing and e-mail service. Technical support is available seven days a week and subscribers will have access to the Atlantic.Net software startup kit, featuring Netscape Communicator, which is available for Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Subscribers may access the service in any of the 30 cities Atlantic.Net currently serves, or anywhere in the country with the Atlantic.Net roaming access plan.

56K Internet access, Atlantic.Net’s flagship service, will be available in that area as soon as the local telephone company upgrades its facilities to accommodate the technology. This process should only take a few months.

Atlantic.Net is honoring all existing service agreements with VolusiaNet users, including rate plans. Subscribers are being contacted with instructions on how to configure their computers to connect with Atlantic.Net.
