GAINESVILLE, FL (3/27/02) – Atlantic.Net (https://www.atlantic.net), a nationwide provider of Internet access and telecommunications services and one of the country’s fastest-growing companies, today announced a partnership with Barrier Free America. Barrier Free America is a Citrus County organization dedicated to increasing the business community’s awareness about their responsibilities under the American Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. Atlantic.Net will provide online access for Barrier Free America to support efforts to begin a training program to monitor businesses for ADA compliance in Citrus County, ultimately benefiting people with disabilities. Barrier Free America will also participate in Atlantic.Net’s Partnership Program, which provides financial incentive when new members sign up for Atlantic.Net’s Internet servicethrough Barrier Free America.

Formerly Barrier Free Committee of Citrus County, Barrier Free America is a non-profit agency whose mission is to inform, educate and increase the business community’s awareness about their responsibilities under the American Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, while assisting people with disabilities in Citrus County through ADA related actions. Atlantic.Net’s donation will allow Barrier Free America to use the Internet to begin training four people to inspect businesses for ADA compliance, in turn, generating income for the participants and revenue for the organization. The long-term goal is to expand the program to reach neighboring counties.

Barrier Free America is located at the Golden Eagle Plaza, 3269 S. Suncoast Blvd., Homosassa, Fl. and is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, non-profit community agency operated solely by the efforts of volunteer staff.
