GAINESVILLE (July 1, 1998) — Atlantic.Net: Internet Connect Company, Inc., one of Florida’s most popular Internet service providers, is pleased to announce that 56K Internet access is now available throughout the Orlando metro area, including Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, and Sanford.

Atlantic.Net is one of the few Internet providers to offer local access in Kissimmee and Sanford. Prior to this upgrade, many Internet users have had to incur toll charges to Orlando in order to use an online service. With this announcement, all of Central Florida is now included in the local calling area.

Users with 56K-compatible modems will be able to access Web pages and use other Internet utilities at nearly twice the speed of a standard 28.8Kbps modem, at no additional cost.

“People in these communities will see an immediate benefit from the 56K technology,” says Atlantic.Net president and CEO Marty Puranik, “Digital modems overcome many of the technical deficiencies found in traditional analog phones lines, which could result in slow connection speeds and unexplained disconnects for Internet users— regardless of the provider they used.”

Customers already using 56K modems will see an immediate improvement in connection speeds, others will notice more reliable connections due to the clarity of the digital signal. Because it is a digital service, customers may also use dial-up 64Kbps ISDN terminal adapters to access the Internet at higher speeds for the same monthly fee. Dial-up 128Kbps ISDN access is also available for an additional charge.
