Atlantic.Net Introduces True Private Networks

GAINESVILLE, FL (10/31/01) – Atlantic.Net, one of the nation’s fastest–growing Internet-Protocol (IP) companies, today announced the official launch of its True Private Network service. Atlantic.Net’s True Private Network (TPN) allows companies to exchange data, documents and other confidential information between locations without crossing the Internet. Whereas other private networks, such as Virtual Private Networks, encrypt data and pass it over the Internet along with public traffic, Atlantic.Net’s True Private Network service uses multi-protocol label switching technology to transfer data over a private network that runs parallel to public traffic.

“There are three big advantages to True Private Networks–security, quality and cost,” said Cameron Clayton, consumer services product manager at Atlantic.Net. “With True Private Networks, data passes through a completely private segment on the Atlantic.Net pipe. Our technology works with a variety of dedicated access methods, and there are no limitations on the number of locations and no additional configuration changes necessary as a network expands. Because the service is network-based, it does not require new hardware or upgrades, decreasing the cost and the chances of equipment failure.”
