Atlantic.Net Launches 56K Internet Service on Space Coast
GAINESVILLE (July 22, 1998) — Atlantic.Net: Internet Connect Company, one of Florida’s most popular Internet service providers, is pleased to announce that its 56K Internet access is now available in Melbourne, Palm Bay, and Titusville local calling areas.
Atlantic.Net members with 56Kbps modems will be able to access Web pages and use other Internet utilities at nearly twice the speed of a standard 28.8Kbps modem, with no additional cost.
Current subscribers should call the Member Services Department at 1-800-921-9328 for the new 56K access number. All customers have been sent an e-mail message containing details of the change and instructions on how to begin using the 56K service.
“People in these communities will see an immediate benefit when using our 56K access,” says Atlantic.Net president and CEO Marty Puranik, “Digital modems overcome many of the technical deficiencies found in traditional analog phones lines, which could result in slow connection speeds and unexplained disconnects for Internet users— regardless of the provider they used.”
Atlantic.Net members using 56K-capable modems will get fast, reliable Internet connections thanks to the clarity of the signal in the digital modems. Because it is a digital service, customers may also use dial-up 64Kbps ISDN terminal adapters to access the Internet at higher speeds for the same monthly fee. Dial-up 128Kbps ISDN access is also available for an additional charge.
Dial-up 56K Internet accounts start at just $9.95 per month; including access to the World Wide Web, electronic mail, discussion groups, and other easy-to-use features. The Atlantic.Net software startup kit, featuring Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser, is available for the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
